Shifting Sand
Hello, I’m Eve.
Over the past couple of months, you’ve read pieces of my story as I’ve shared some of my experiences, reflections, struggles, and lessons with you. Some moments have been easier to put into words than others. But today, I’m coming to you a little differently.
In this edition, I need your advice.
Lately, life has felt like shifting sand.
Have you ever stood on sand and noticed how quickly your footing can change? One moment, you feel steady. Next, the ground beneath you moves, and you find yourself trying to regain your balance.
That is what life feels like for me right now.
The world is increasingly complex. There is so much noise. So many demands and expectations.
Be present.
Take care of your family.
Build meaningful relationships.
Protect your mental health.
Make time for yourself.
Pursue your dreams.
Stay informed.
Speak up.
Rest.
Heal.
And somewhere between juggling it all, I find myself standing on shifting sand, wondering where to place my feet.
But still, I am expected to keep standing.
Perhaps the hardest part is that there are no simple answers.
Life does not always give us solid ground. Sometimes, just when we think we have figured things out, something changes.
A plan does not work out.
A relationship shifts.
A new responsibility appears.
An opportunity comes with unexpected demands.
Or perhaps we change, and suddenly, the life we once worked so hard to build no longer fits who we are becoming.
And so, we adjust.
We take a step.
The ground shifts.
We take another.
Sometimes we move forward confidently. Other times, we stand still because we are afraid of taking the wrong step.
Maybe that is where I am right now. Trying to find my footing without pretending that I have all the answers.
How do we remain true to ourselves when the ground beneath us seems to keep shifting?
I am learning that standing on shifting sand does not necessarily mean I am lost. Perhaps it simply means that I am in a season of change. A season that requires me to pay attention. To slow down. To question what I have always assumed. To let go of the need to have everything figured out.
But I want to hear from you.
What do you do when life feels like shifting sand?
How do you find your footing when everything around you seems to be changing? How do you decide what deserves your energy and what you need to release? And, most importantly, how do you hold on to yourself amid the noise, the demands, and the expectations?
This time, Eve is not coming with answers.
I am coming with a question.
And perhaps, in sharing our stories, our uncertainties, and the lessons we have learned along the way, we can remind one another that even on shifting sand, we are not lost or standing alone.
So, tell me!
How do you find solid ground when life keeps shifting beneath your feet?
I’m listening.
—Eve
