About Us
Peramind Health Education Society is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing wellbeing, learning, and equity across communities and borders.
Who We Are
Peramind Health and Education Society was founded with a singular vision: to create a world where mental health, education, and wellbeing are accessible to all, regardless of cultural background or socioeconomic status.
Born from the recognition that racialized and immigrant communities often face unique barriers to mental health services and educational opportunities, Peramind was established to bridge these gaps through culturally responsive programs and initiatives.
Today, we serve communities across continents, from our wellness programs in Canada to our nursing scholarship initiatives in Nigeria. Our approach combines evidence-based practices with cultural sensitivity, ensuring that every program we offer resonates with and serves the specific needs of the communities we support.
Our Mission
Peramind advances the mental, emotional, and social wellbeing of individuals and communities experiencing structural and social inequities through equitable health education, culturally grounded wellness initiatives, and supportive learning spaces. Our work includes global efforts that strengthen the wellbeing, learning, and professional development of current and future healthcare professionals.
Our Vision
A world where wellbeing, learning, and professional growth are accessible, culturally affirmed, and supported across communities and borders.
What We Do
Through education, mentorship, storytelling, and community-centered programs, Peramind creates spaces that support:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Learning and professional development
- Mentorship pathways
- Equity-informed, culturally responsive care and education
Our programs include wellness and learning initiatives for racialized and immigrant communities in Canada, with a focus on Black women and other historically marginalized groups. We also offer education, tuition support, and nursing-focused initiatives in low-resource settings.

Our Approach
At Peramind, we believe that wellbeing and learning cannot be separated from culture, context, and lived experience.
- Equity-Centered
We recognize that inequities affecting mental health, education, and professional development are shaped by history, policy, and social structures. Our work addresses these realities directly, rather than assuming one-size-fits-all solutions.
- Culturally Grounded
Peramind designs and delivers programs that honour cultural knowledge, community strengths, and local ways of knowing. We work alongside communities, not over them.
- Context-Responsive
While racialization and migration shape access to wellbeing and education in Canada, educational access, socioeconomic conditions, and system capacity shape similar challenges in low-income settings. Peramind adapts its language, strategies, and programs to reflect local realities while remaining anchored in a shared commitment to dignity, equity, care, and culturally grounded support.
- Learning-Focused
Education is central to our work. We create supportive learning spaces that foster confidence, critical thinking, mentorship, and professional growth, particularly for students and emerging
professionals in healthcare and related fields.
- Relational and Sustainable
We prioritize trust, mentorship, and long-term relationships. Peramind grows through partnership, reflection, and accountability, ensuring our work remains ethical, transparent, and sustainable.

Did You Know?
Mentorship is a key factor in helping nursing students and early-career nurses succeed. Studies show that those with mentors report higher confidence, stronger professional skills, and improved retention in their program (ReSPeCT Study, 2022; PubMed 26334656,2016; CanCOVID Report, 2023).
